Vortex Pumps

As the name suggests, vortex pumps work by creating a vortex in which the liquid travels. As the vortex impeller spins at a high speed, it creates s whirlpool which is the directed away form the impeller. This in turn reduces the chances of the water pump clogging and is therefor used in applications where there is sediment or slightly larger particles.

The nature of a vortex pump means you don’t normally get the same efficiencies however it’s a small trade off for being able to shift dirtier water.
